It really is nothing out of the norm to see new technology. But, there very few times when a new device emerges that we are actually excited about. Albeit, the name of the product definitely helps, there are usually more than enough releases to hold us over till "The Big One" comes out at whatever time it scheduled. Recently we saw the Mobile World Congress event unfold, and while there were quite a few releases that we were all excited for, there was one that had everyone's attention. The release of the new Samsung Galaxy S5 has had rumors circulating about it for a while now, but it was finally released at the Unpacked 5 Event at the Mobile World Congress.
Samsung also released two new successors to the Galaxy Gear; The Gear 2 and the Gear 2 Neo. They also have now gotten into the fitness band area with the new Gear Fit. Needless to say, Samsung was not holding back at this years event.
The Galaxy S5 had a multitude of different rumors being spread about it. Some of these held up, while others were merely wishful thinking. For example, the highly anticipated 4K screen is actually a Full HD Super AMOLED 5.1 inch screen. Still not bad, but not 4K like everyone was expecting. However, this may be better as studies have shown that you wouldn't even be able to tell the difference in clarity when it comes to smaller screens, especially at closer distances. Don't think that just cause the 4K screen wasn't delivered though, that this new smartphone isn't working with some heavy ammunition. The bad boy is coming stock with QualComm Snapdragon, a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera, 2GB of RAM, and a quad-core 2.5GHz processor. The phone also comes in a 16 or 32 gig storage model, along with a 2,800mAh battery. Obviously the S5 is stacked in terms of hardware, but there are a few other features as well.

The biggest features that have been talked about are the water and dust resistance. That's right! The new S5 can be submerged in water up to 3 feet and still be in perfect working condition. The dust and water resistance are good up to the IP67 specifications. Next lets talk about the fingerprint scanner. Much like the iPhone 5S, the fingerprint scanner is built into the home button. The phone can be unlocked by swiping your finger over the scanner, but Samsung added another nifty feature. The same fingerprint scanning security can be utilized for specific documents that you may want to stay protected on your phone.
It is a pretty safe bet to say that Samsung's new Galaxy S5 was the one thing that everyone was excited for this year. There is not a release date for retail stores, or a price set, but we can expect to see this in the near future. Overall this phone looks to be quite the little powerhouse in terms of what it can. The hardware looks incredible, the waterproof feature is perfect for clumsy people like myself, and here is to hoping the fingerprint scanner holds up better than the iPhone 5S's did.
No matter what needs your business may have, the performance and portability of a tablet can help you out in some way. Tablets have changed the way we do many things, and they can open up doors and create opportunities for your business.
Have you ever thought about using tablets to collect customer data that will help your business? You can use tablets to let your customers take surveys or give feedback on their experience with you.
Here are some techniques and benefits:
Reach Every Customer... Ever.
Using a tablet is the easiest way to reach out to your customers to get feedback. Computers are not practical. They are too big and bulky and not even an option. Tablets are small and portable, so they eliminate inconvenience when approaching a customer. If you run a department store or a restaurant, you can have your staff out on the floor talking to customers and getting feedback from them. Not only is their feedback very valuable, but you would be surprised at how positively your customers will respond just knowing that you care enough to do that. Not only is that good for business in general, but chances are they will be willing to give you the data that you are looking for in order to improve your business. By equipping your staff with tablets, you will be able to reach an incredible amount of people and gather more data than you thought was possible.

Make Life Easier
New tablets are pretty powerful. They can handle many aspects of your business, and they can definitely handle any customer. It literally makes delivering surveys and questionnaires easier than ever before. You couldn't use smartphones because that would be annoying, and like I said before, computers aren't even an option for this part of your business. Another way that you're probably failing at right now is by using paper to collect data. Not only is it the 21st century, but paper just sucks. It can get wet, lost, ripped, or maybe some people don't write so well and you can't read it. Simply handing someone a tablet takes care of every issue that I just pointed out.
Get It Done Faster
Tablets are super fast and easy to use for everyone. Let's say that you have a customer waiting in line to check out or waiting on their bill. How easy would it be to just slip them a tablet so that they could provide their feedback while they wait? They won't even be annoyed by having to write something or by listening to you tell them to call the number on the back of their receipt. They will probably be pleased to have something to pass the time while they wait, and when they are done and hit "submit", you already have all the information that you need to improve their experience the next time the visit. Using tablets in your business can help you raise your level of customer satisfaction immediately.
As the days slowly begin to bleed into weeks, we start to see just how advanced technology is becoming. In some ways it can seem scary and astonishing all in the same moment. We are starting to outsource our jobs to computers and machines. Yes that, we are beginning to utilize a more mechanized way of performing jobs. Even jobs such as delivery service. Take Amazon for example. Amazon is a company that is known for its online shopping and delivery services. They too are now doing their best to "keep up with the times". The company has now devised a way of delivering our packages to us that will leave some wondering if they may have seen a UFo in the air.Amazon has recently announced a new "drone" based delivery system. The company plans on calling it's new service Amazon Prime Air. CEO of the company, Jeff Bezos, claimed that the service could be running and in the air as soon as 4 to 5 years from now.As nice and cool as this may sound, Amazon may have a lot of red tape to cut through before they are truly ready for lift off.
The FAA, or Federal Aviation Administration, have a lot to sort through when it comes to approving the use of these commercial drones for actual flight through U.S. airspace. There is actually so much to sort through, that should the company start tomorrow, the "pilots" of the unmanned drones for strictly commercial purpose would have to apply for those positions, and would then have to be constantly reviewed, case by case. Needless to say, the new service and the FAA need to come to some sort of agreement to make this service possible. The FAA, however, already has plans to utilize umanned commercial drones as early as September 30th of 2015. One of the biggest reasons why the creating and working through the regulations have become so tedious, is due to the fact that it was expected that the drones would be manned by a remote pilot, but since Amazon is designing these drones to be completely autonomous, there would be no pilot directly manning each flight that the drone makes.
Did You Know Short Term Tablet Rentals Were Used To Test New FAA Rules For The Use Of Electronic Devices In Flight?
As it stands right now, there is only one commercial drone pilot who has been approved to make flights, who currently resides in the Arctic. Although there are many restrictions and regulations that need to be added into the FAA to make things like these drones and the Prime Air service take to the skies, there are plans to continually add to the regulations as the years go by. Currently autonomous unmanned drones are not allowed in the U.S.
Despite the, somewhat, unpromising remarks from the FAA, Amazon is still keeping their heads up. They have plans to continually work on newer and better model drones, and claims that what they have shown are merely prototypes. They await the rules and regulations of the FAA to make it possible for their program to take off.
What does this mean for businesses? Well think about this if you will. This might make things a bit easier when a company could be in need of certain items in a timely fashion. Don't want an employee stuck in traffic trying to pick up a package? Ordering from Amazon may soon become an invaluable asset in terms of saving time for companies. We will see what comes of this in the future, but as for now, don't expect to see these drones in the air any time soon.

1. Reserve your technology as early as possible.
We all know that a big component of stress is last minute planning. So do yourself a favor and don't put off that call to your Tech Travel Agent to get your quote and or reservation started. It's way easier than you think, so just do it! The sooner you book your event rental needs the sooner you can get onto your next project, even if that project is simply to get out of the office and get started on the weekend!
2. If you don't know exactly what type of hardware you need, ask, don't guess.
Not being technically savvy does not need to cause you stress. Simply explain your project to your Tech Travel Agent and let them suggest, or investigate further, to determine the most cost effective rental hardware solution for your event. Communication really does matter, so tell your story and don't hesitate
to ask for advice. It's what a Tech Travel Agent does, so let them.
3. Plan to have your order set up and tested at least two days in advance.
No instructor wants to walk into a classroom full of employees and start off the class by asking.. Does everyone have shortcut to our new HR software on their desktop? So whenever the situation permits, have your equipment delivered at least two days in advance to allow your staff, or instructors, time to familiarize themselves with the equipment, to make sure everything is in working order, and make any "last minute" adjustments way in advance of the event start date.
4. If you have a large quantity order, ask about the policy for spare equipment.
When placing a larger order for any technology, ask about having one or more spare systems left onsite in case of an emergency. Let's face it, bad things can happen to good people. Know that and ask what your Tech Travel Agent can do to help by adding in some spares.
5. Only trust your technology rental to an established national firm.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, knowing the technology for your event is being delivered and set up by a trusted national rental firm is invaluable when it comes to eliminating stress! So when you talk to your Tech Travel Agent ask if they do business nationwide. Ask if your equipment will be delivered and serviced locally. Trust your gut when it comes to the basics, such as: Does their website look like something your 15 year old nephew would design? (No offense to 15 year olds) When you call do you always get a real person or just a voice mail? Is the quote itemized with a detailed description of each product so you know exactly what you are paying for? Does the rental firm you’re considering have an established social presence with the number of followers/fans you imagine a national firm would have? Do their social sites have continuous updates stretching back years? In general, remember "If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck and walks like a duck, it's a duck". Since we all know doing business with ducks is stressful.. just don't do it! You deserve the best service and support on your technology rental so be sure you trust a technology rental provider before you reserve your equipment!

"Where are all those plasma screens coming from?" asked my CCTV expert friend as we were walking down the aisle of the ISSC east at the convention center in Washington DC.
"Look, I work these surveillance camera tradeshows all the time by myself. I have to lug the demo camera equipment, sales brochures, bling, even parts for the trade show booth... its all I can fit in the company van. I'd have to rent a truck if I wanted to have a nice plasma in my booth too. It sure would be nice to have an attention grabber. It's just I can't afford the $1500 the convention center wants me to pay. I don't know how the small businessman like me can compete with the big guys at ADT."
I said you don't have to spend $1500. "Not even a thousand." Find out more about how inexpensive it is to rent a plasma and have it delivered right to your trade show booth.
exacerbated by a $120 million write-off related to the company's Gateway, eMachines and Packard Bell product brands. The company recently commented on its Q4 loss, stating that it reached NT$3,37 billion ($116 million). That is down from a net profit of NT$94 million in the same period the year before. Revenue also reached NT$101.5 billion, a decrease from NT$127.5 billion the year before.
Back in January Acer announced a write-off from the lost value in its Gateway, eMachines and Packard Bell trademarks,
which were all acquired by Acer back in 2007 as a $710 million deal. Since then, the company has discontinued the eMachines brand and is planning on refocusing its product portfolios under Gateway and Packard Bell.
If you exclude the write-off, Acer would have gained a net profit of NT$131 million which translates to a year-over-year increase of 39%. Acer reported the net loss as PC shipment growth remains down during an era where smartphones and tablets are in high demand. This market change has been especially hard for Acer as the company has reported back-to-back quarterly net losses in 2011.
Over 80% of Acer's revenue comes from desktops and notebooks, though the company expects that its tablets and convertible PCs will help drive growth. Acer CEO J.T. Wang said that the supply chain for tablets has matured while the company has noticed "sales momentum" behind touch-based Windows 8 products like the Surface tablet.
Acer is projecting that it will ship 5 million tablets this year, all of which will be running either Windows 8 or Android. However, the company also hopes to exceed that figure and reach 10 million units. According to Wang, "We will have a full line of tablets of Windows 8, and also we will have a full line of Android tablets. By the second half of this year, we will have a very competitive, full range. So you can expect we will be very aggressive in this category."
